Apparently you can write a wonderful and funny and creatively ‘fond’ look back at two seasons of Smash – then use an image from Season One – with Ellis, Frank, and Dev – and hope no one notices.

Great article, though I like Motown a lot. P.S. They are casting Broadway’s Patsy Cline from American idol, but she’s very good.

Totally agree with your review Ron. I was totally blown away by this production. Watching it is such an exciting experience. What a difference to the hideous revival currently playing at the Marquis..
Agree too that it will win Best Revival. Should be a huge hit overall I imagine.

Personally, I find handheld camera work annoying. It makes me “aware” of the cameraman and the camera. I haven’t seen the movie yet. I feel as if I’m being compelled to like it; that if I don’t I’m some sort of heretic, just like when I found the first Lord of the Rings film to be rather plodding and dull.

Thank you for one of the most well-written, and in my opinion, spot-on reviews of the revised Jekyll and Hyde that I’ve read yet! I saw this new production – more than once, I confess- when it first opened on the west coast in Sept and can’t wait til it plays the Pantages in LA in Feb.
Frank Wildhorn recently said (in an interview) that he wrote the part of Jekyll/Hyde for someone exactly like Constantine; Jeff Calhoun had a similar comment even more recently when he said Constantine was born to play this role. He puts heart and soul into every second he is on stage, and the same can be said for every member of the cast. The entire production is a stellar theatrical treat!.
